A session on 'Menstrual Health and Hygiene' was organized for the GEM participants at NTPC Darlipali. With years of experience in gynecology, Dr. Prabha Pal from the Medical department of NTPC Darlipali simplified the concept of menstruation for young girls.

For many girls in India, the first menstrual cycle is a surprise, and can become scary, embarrassing, and confusing at times. Thus, it is imperative to make them aware about menstrual health and hygiene at right time in their early adolescence only. This would not only minimize unexpected misery for them but will also make them aware enough to deal with their periods, especially the first ones, with ease.

The session educated the girls on important issues like menstrual hygiene management and busted stigmas related to menstruation which will help them understand the intricacies of the natural biological process in a clearer manner, and make them competent enough to spread the word to broader masses.
